A Week in Spain
While in Spain, we were able to travel to both Madrid and Barcelona.
In Madrid we had a couple of complications with our Airbnb, however, Madrid was super relaxing and there was no need for an itinerary!
We did have a couple of attractions that we wanted to see including…
Plaza Mayor- this is a public space in the heart of the city and is surrounded by shops and restaurants. This is more of a walk through while heading to another place type of attraction, but is still nice to see.
Royal Palace of Madrid- we decided not to go in and see the cathedral, however, it is just as worth it to sit on the steps that are across from the palace and soak in the beauty. Additionally, while we were there, there were musicians playing their instruments.
Jardines de Sabatini- we actually stumbled across this gorgeous maze/garden after visiting the Royal Palace of Madrid! No words for how beautiful this garden was.
Temple of Debod- this is a must see!!! The temple was made by Egyptians in 200 BC and was donated to Spain for helping save the Abu Simbel temples. Super pretty!
Retiro Park- take a stroll through this lovely park and take advantage of the shade, grass, and activities you can participate in on the pond! We went through the park during the day so it was very hot, but I’m sure going at night during sunset would be even more relaxing and a little romantic!
To end our time in Madrid, we just HAD to go see the then recently released Lion King movie because we couldn’t wait until we got home. Lucky for us, they offer some movies in English, so we were able to see the movie without any language barrier.
Even though we didn’t do much in Madrid, we had a great time being able to explore and not having a schedule; sometimes that is needed for vacation. After our few days in Madrid, we headed off to Barcelona.
Everywhere we looked in Barcelona, there was some insanely crafted building- most of the time designed by Gaudi. Barcelona definitely didn’t fail us and it was full of sangria, art, beaches, and more sangria. We certainly had no issue coming up with things to do. While visiting we went to…
Casa Battló- famous building designed by Gaudi and intended to create the feeling of being under water. Although I was blown away by the artistic creation on the outside, I have to say I was not as impressed with the inside. However, even though I felt it didn’t meet my expectations, I was happy I at least went in and am able to say I toured the famous building.
Basílica de la Sagrada Família- you all know this is a building you HAVE to see. I’ve seen pictures of this church, but standing in front and being able to see all of the intricate designs and how massive it is… unforgettable.
Palau Dalmases- big Cheetah Girl fan? You’re welcome. You’ll find the legendary Cheetah Girls 2 stairs in this flamenco event space. Unfortunately, a show was about to take place so we weren’t able to enter and we could only stand in the doorway to snap a quick pic.
Park Güell- another famous spot, for Cheetah Girl fans included, is Park Güell. Park Güell is a park which has beautifully designed benches and gardens.
Barceloneta Beach- I’m not sure of all of the beaches that are in Barcelona, but Barceloneta is filled with locals and tourists, however still beautiful. Tip: don’t buy any drinks from people selling because while they look tasty, they taste like apple juice 🙃
Another beautiful country down in the books! Safe to say I will definitely be visiting Spain again and hopefully will be able to travel to new cities to experience new adventures!
xoxo
