A Weekend in Amsterdam
Never did I except to love Amsterdam as much as I now do! A beautiful, clean, quiet city that still has just the right amount to do and see! Going to Amsterdam after London was the best decision we made because of how laidback and calming it was- and no, not because of the weed lol!
Things to Do/See:
Anne Frank House
Canal Boat Ride
A’DAM Lookout- lookout of Amsterdam with a bar and restaurant at the top
Coffee Shops (coffee = weed in Amsterdam- the most confusing thing of the trip. i just wanted the actual drink so imagine how hard it was to find it haha- so, anyways, if you’re into that it’s a pretty interesting experience!)
Van Gogh Museum
Heineken Experience
Koan Float- relaxing float where the layer of salt helps to keep you up! Fun experience, but for someone who cannot sit still (me), it was hard to be relaxed
Ride Bikes!!
Restaurants:
We only went to about three different restaurants during our three day trip here because the restaurants we went to were extraordinary. We definitely should’ve tried more places but now we have more of a reason to go back!
Pancakes Amsterdam- Amsterdam is known for their Dutch Pancakes, so make sure to try them out! Very light, but filling, meal! I had the Stroop Dutch pancakes while they were on special there and I promise you, they were sent from heaven!
La Casa di Michael- I just started drooling while even typing the restaurant name out. All I can say is go. here. Insanely authentic, reasonably priced, and might have been the best restaurant of the whole trip
Transportation:
For transportation in Amsterdam, we bought a GVB card which allows you to travel on the metro, tram, bus and ferry. We didn’t even need to buy anything else! We bought a three day card so that we wouldn’t have to constantly load more money on, and it seemed to work out very well for us! At first, transportation was overwhelming since we don’t know a hint of Dutch, but all you have to do is follow the directions on your choice of map app!
Accommodations:
We stayed in the XO Hotels Park West hotel and it was so cute!! Its literally ten steps away from the 19 tram, which we used everyday! Four of us stayed in this hotel for 4 nights for only $586 ($150ish/per person). They have a cafe/restaurant inside as well, so we would get breakfast from there everyday with freshly squeezed orange juice or a smoothie!
Of course there are many other options for accommodations in Amsterdam, however, I can confidently say that you won’t regret staying here! 5 stars all around!!
Amsterdam is such a cute city, I definitely would recommend to anyone! We had something to do every day, but were also able to relax and see things we wouldn’t have seen if we were on a schedule! A weeklong vacation, just a weekend, or even a pitstop, you will have the best time in Amsterdam!
